2010 HIA Remote Housing Awards Winner!!!

On the 20th November 2010 the HIA held the annual Awards dinner at the Sky City Casino. This year, Nimble Homes won the Best Remote Housing award again. This backs up their win in 2009. The house entered for this year’s competition was the Banyan St House, assembled in Kununurra and built in Darwin NT as a 2Bed 2Bath duplex with study.

We believe the following features may have appealed to the judges:

• Innovative kit veranda allows short eves without exposing windows
• Firewall between units built to allow transport
• Roof-line and block orientation delivering a sensible separation of space

Secretly we liked the veranda’s most of all (notched rafters & batons). The Banyan St House is an example of an interpretation of the traditional Queenslander style home.  For pictures of this home click here.
